For those guys out there that still feel like chivalry isn’t dead and truly believe in ignoring stupid “rules” like waiting three days to call, they can all agree they usually get the short end of the stick.  Girls call them “nice guys”, which just is another way of saying, “A guy I will never have hot, sweaty sex with.”

Unfortunately, this is the curse of being a nice guy because there are so few out there.  Girls are so used to falling for the lying, cheating, sweet talking player with the nice eyes that when a nice guy comes along we can’t appreciate it.  And why is that?  Why do smart, attractive, charismatic girls decide to spend their time upset and crying over douchebags instead of pairing themselves off with a guy who knows how to really treat a girl?

And the answer is- because those guys know how to play the game.  Nice guys make things way too easy.  A girl needs a little bit of a challenge; we don’t want everything handed right to us.  These nice guys need to learn the fine line between being “nice” and being a man (sorry if that sounds a bit harsh but who would go for the sidekick when they could have the superhero?).

Even though girls whine and complain that they hate when guys play games, a smart guy would realize that a little playing never hurt anyone as long as you’re playing it with the best intentions.  Don’t play the game knowing that you’re never going to take your sentiments somewhere, but if you’re playing the game because you want to make sure she has the same interest in you then play ball!

Call her or text her to say hello, but don’t do it every other minute.  If she see’s that you have that much free time on your hands and are contacting her nonstop- trust me- it will get annoying and obsessive looking.

Take her out for a nice night out, but don’t be overly sweet.  We like nice, romantic gestures but if it’s too over the top that it wouldn’t even appear in the most girly of chick-flicks, you know you’ve gone too far and she’s now wondering if she’s dating a female.

Most importantly, play a little hard to get!  If it’s been a week and she knows that you’re already set on “putting a ring on it”, where’s the fun in that?  This is where the bad boy side of you needs to take over.  Be smooth, be aloof- be a man!  Show us that you still want to hang out with the guys, that your career is important to you and that if you go a night or two without seeing her you will survive.  This will just make the next time you see each other that much more exciting, special and new.

So nice guys- try being a little less nice sometimes; see where that gets you because I’m sure it will be beyond the friend zone.
