While reading a recent issue of Cosmo, I stumbled across a fascinating article. The news isn’t groundbreaking for tantra practitioners, but most of us have never heard of the no-touch orgasm. I was always a bit skeptical but new research is assuring us that this is very possible. Also called think-sexing, it’s a way (mostly for women) to achieve an actual orgasm without being physically touched. Interested yet?

I think cliches are over used for a reason - they’re true. “Mind over matter” has always been one of my favorites and we’re finding it to be more true than we originally thought. A thought once reserved for the new age and hippy crowds, the realization that we can create with our thoughts is hitting the scientific world. In this case, women are creating orgasmic responses in their own bodies without the aid of physical contact.

Studies were done on two groups of women. One group climaxed traditionally and the other had thought-provoked orgasms. Both groups had similar physical responses including; changes in blood pressure, pupil dilation, heart rate, pain tolerance and brain activity. These women were clearly not faking it!

Some sex and relationship experts don’t advocate think-sexing because it could lead to sexual frustration if you’re unsuccessful. The kind of mind-body connection needed to accomplish this feat isn’t something most people have, but perhaps it can be learned through meditation and practice, practice, practice! Other experts believe it’s a good way to get in touch with your own body and strengthen the bond between you and your mate. That’s right, a lot of people are using this powerful tool with their partner; it’s not just for self-pleasure. If you want my opinion, I don’t see any harm in trying it. At the very least, you may be able to enhance your physical climax (and hey, that’s never a bad thing)!

FYI: Lady Gaga was among the reported think-sexers. Surprising? Not really.
