A girl’s perfume can be her trademark or her bane. A scent conjures memory like nothing else. We all know that powdery rose scent that reminds us of a grand mother or great aunt.

Choosing a scent that accents you individually can be a long search or love at first scent. Some ladies like to go for trademark scent while others like to go for a seasonal scent.

Either way, choose wisely, and by all means, a whisper of a scent is far more desirable than bathing in it. You want to draw someone in with your scent, not bowl them over. A woman’s personal scent is enjoyable and memorable, or so you hope.

Vanilla based scents are positively intoxicating for the low simmer of late summer. The rich, sumptuous nature of vanilla with its mysterious floral tones seems a perfect muse for the perfumer.

Ranging from the girly sugar cookie goodness of Susanne Lang’s perfume line, Sula’s Vanilla Blossom (retail $36) to the sophistication of Antica Farmacista’s Vanilla Bourbon and Mandarin (retail $68), there’s some vanilla love for everyone that is anything but “vanilla.”

Brought to us by Christina Hendrick’s favorite perfume line is Havanna Vanille. Tantalizing, bordering on the tantric, is L’Artisan Parfumeur‘s vanilla offering, retailing at $155, will seduce you with Mexican vanilla soaked in aged rum, hints of smoked woods, musks and clove spice.

La Maison de la Vanille has a line of several varieties of vanilla based eau de toilettes for around $48. Their Vanille divine des Tropiques with floral notes of jasmine and tuberose that end in a mellow amber is scrumptious. For the more earthy girl, there is the Vanille Sauvage de Madagascar with notes of cedar and ylang ylang.

Anyway you go, there are some absolutely irresistible vanilla based perfumes available to light up your late summer nights.
