I fantasize about being able to spend three weeks at a resort whose sole purpose is to get my body in to shape.  Unfortunately, the cost of these destination fitness vacations (I prefer that term over “fat camp”), are far too out of my price range.  That is until Funjet Vacations announced a new Destination Wellness vacation package.

With American obesity rates remaining unchanged in spite of an increase in exercise, a Destination Wellness package may be in order.

The vacation is a fitness focused vacation that creates a holistic wellness environment that transforms your vacation into an invigorating and healthy experience – just stay away from the swim-up bar with all-inclusive drinks.

Travelers will be able to add a one, three or six day Destination Wellness program to their vacation package at El Dorado Royale or El Dorado Casitas Royale, By Karisma, when booking with a travel agent or on www.Funjet.com.  With prices ranging from $200 – $1,000 per person, each participant will work with a Wellness Concierge who will help you plan the fitness portion of your trip.  There are a variety of classes offered to cater to different interests and fitness levels.

Participants will choose from 15 different Destination Wellness classes including Yoga, Zumba and Beach Boot Camp.

David Pritchard, Destination Wellness vacations’ designer, has been working in the health and fitness industry for 20 years and has a degree in Exercise Science, plus certifications from the American Council of Exercise and The National Academy of Sports Medicine.

“Everyone, regardless of age and physical condition, deserves to know what a healthier lifestyle feels like,” said Pritchard. “My commitment is to provide the highest quality of work that focuses on your individual needs, maximizes your time, and gives you true life changing results.”

The best part about these vacations are that participants work with their Wellness Concierge to create an individualized program to meet their specific needs and goals. The intent is that the knowledge and training techniques that are learned during a Destination Wellness vacation will be taken back home and applied, in order to continue the momentum created while participating in the program.
